Artist Statement
Through my work, I explore myself in every complicated way I exist. From the way my body looks, the trauma I have endured, sex, gender, and relationships, I use imagery of my body and spaces I inhabit to question and analyse my life. The viewer is often met with a confronting gaze in each piece to enable a sense of connection, observation, and an exchange of understanding with the subject. Through an interdisciplinary practice, focusing on painting, drawing, and soft sculpture, I allow myself time to delve into my experience with my body and living. I often find myself focused on the concept of home and what it means to be home, in a space, in my own body, and in my mind. Feeling through colour, forms and space, perpetual loneliness is tackled and unearthed allowing for relief.
